It was definitely a surreal night for Dixie.

She was out of uniform and driving her clients to The Showtime Grill for a dinner at their invitation to a place she had chosen. The privacy guard was down so she could talk to them easily without using the intercom.

Pierre was, of course, dressed in a suit. It was sexy, but she was beginning to wonder if he owned any other clothes. Even pajamas. Or a fancy smoking jacket. Anything else.

Mackey looked drool-worthy in his jeans and T-shirt. The T-shirt left no muscle to the imagination—just the way she liked it. It was a challenge to keep her eyes on traffic and not ogling the two hot men in the back.

Still, the oddest part of the evening was driving the limo without wearing her chauffeur uniform. Back at the hotel when she’d been getting dressed, she had passed on the designer dresses and all the fancy accessories. Not that she didn’t love them or wasn’t grateful for them, but tonight would have an entirely different atmosphere than the luxury and glamour of the casino. This was about fun. Dancing, music, good old-fashioned simple food. She was really looking forward to it. Yeah, she was nervous. She was nervous they wouldn’t have a good time. Nervous they— No, nervous that Pierre would see the place as low class, as if he were slumming or something. But she was doing her best to ignore her anxiety. She was determined to have a good time.

So instead of the expensive outfits, she chose something from her own wardrobe: a simple, short semi-formal dress good for dancing. The hem came to her knees, but still had lots of skirt swish. The bodice was embroidered and elegant. And since it was black, she wore her pink cowgirl boots. Anyone who had ever danced in heels could dance in cowgirl boots.

“How far is this place?” Pierre asked.

“Only a little farther,” she answered. “Just off the strip. Mostly locals go there.”

“I feel like I’m going to be overdressed.”

“Maybe a little. But it’s okay. It’s Vegas. Someone there will probably be dressed as Elvis.”

Mackey leaned forward. “I want to meet an Elvis impersonator. It’s been on my bucket list ever since we went to Graceland.”

Pierre glanced at him. “You have strange needs, Mackey. Anyone ever tell you that?”

Mackey only shrugged. “Who doesn’t want to see Elvis?”

Her stomach was all butterflies when she finally pulled into the lot around the back of The Showtime Grill, parking where there was plenty of room for the limo.

She reached down to get her adorable pink Coach clutch that perfectly matched her boots—the one thing from yesterday she absolutely couldn’t leave behind. She reached for her door handle, but before she could grab it, her door opened and Mackey was there, holding it for her.

She couldn’t help but grin. “You keep doing my job like this and I’m going to get spoiled.”

“You’re wasting your breath,” Pierre told her good-naturedly as he also came around to the driver’s side of the limo.
